FAQ
Straight answers.
Are your birds organic?
Our feed is organic. Our birds are not certified organic. They eat non-GMO organic feed, mixed locally from sorghum, milled peas, barley, wheat, and organic cold-milled sunflower seed oil. No corn, no soy.
We’d rather tell you exactly what’s true than lean on a label we don’t have.
Why Cornish Cross?
Cornish Cross is the classic meat chicken: a broad, meaty bird that people know how to cook. The breed isn’t the problem with commodity chicken. How it’s raised is.
We take the same bird and give it a completely different life: chicken tractors moved to fresh pasture every single day, no-corn no-soy feed, and a short trip to processing.

Where and how are they processed?
Our birds are processed under USDA inspection about 25 miles from our pasture. A short, calm trip matters: long transport and stressful handling are linked to stress hormones, poorer meat quality, and birds dying in transit.
What does air-chilled mean?
After processing, a bird has to be cooled down fast. Most chicken is dunked in a chilled water bath, where it absorbs some water. Ours is cooled with cold air instead. No chill water absorbed, so you pay for chicken, not water. You also get firmer texture, crisper skin, and a cleaner flavor.
How does reserving birds work?
We raise a set number of birds each season. Reserving lets you claim yours before they’re raised, so you’re not left out when they sell out.

When is the season?
We raise birds from spring through early fall, when the pasture is growing.
